Tangier
Royal Golf de Tanger
A club born in 1914, among pines on the hills of Tangier.
The story
Royal Golf de Tanger began in 1914 as the “Diplomatic Country Club”, nine holes with sand greens, when Tangier was a city of consuls and travellers. It is one of the oldest clubs in Africa.
In the late 1930s the course was redesigned by the English architect Charles Hugh Alison, then reworked by Frank Pennink and C. K. Cotton in 1967 and by Peter Harradine in 2001. It climbs over hilly, tree-lined ground.
Today it is an 18-hole, par-72 course, a short drive from the medina and the Strait of Gibraltar.
