1. Who we are and what this policy covers

Ibn Battuta Experience (伊本白图泰) is a brand of Tasweek Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong, registered office 2301, 23/F Bayfield Building, 99 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong (“we”, “us”). We are the party that decides how your personal information is used (the “data controller” or “personal information processor”).

This policy explains how we collect, use, share, store and protect personal information of visitors to www.ibnbattuta.cn, people who contact us on WeChat or Xiaohongshu, and clients who book a trip. We handle personal information in line with applicable law, including the Personal Information Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance of Hong Kong. This policy is written in Chinese and English. If the two differ, the Chinese version applies.

2. Information we collect

  • Information you give us: your name, WeChat ID or nickname, contact details, travel dates, group size, preferences and activities you want, and anything else you tell us when you plan or book a trip, or send us feedback.
  • Travel document details: for travellers on a confirmed booking, passport details and dates of birth, as needed for hotels, transfers and permits.
  • Payment information: the details needed to record and confirm your payment, such as the name on the account and the amount. We do not store bank card numbers.
  • Health information: only what you choose to tell us that is needed to plan your trip safely, such as an injury or a dietary need.
  • Photos and images: photos taken during your trip, and photos or messages you choose to send us.
  • Information collected automatically: when you visit our website, technical information such as pages viewed, device and browser type, and approximate location from your IP address, collected through cookies and similar technology.

3. Why we use it

  • To plan, confirm and run your trip, including bookings with hotels, drivers, guides and photographers.
  • To communicate with you about your enquiry, booking and trip, mainly on WeChat.
  • To take and record payments, and to keep the accounting records the law requires.
  • To deliver your photos after the trip.
  • To keep our website secure and working, understand how it is used and improve it.
  • To meet legal obligations, to establish or defend legal claims, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
  • To send you information about our trips and offers, or to use photos of you in our marketing, only if you have agreed.

4. Your consent

Where the law requires your consent, we ask for it separately and clearly, for example for transferring your information outside mainland China (section 6), for marketing messages, for use of your photos in our marketing, and for any health information. You can refuse or withdraw consent at any time, and a refusal does not affect your trip, except for information we need to provide it. Withdrawal does not affect processing done before it.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:

  • Suppliers in Morocco who deliver your trip: hotels, drivers, guides, photographers and our local operating partner.
  • Service providers that help us run our business: payment and banking providers, website hosting, and email, messaging and document services.
  • Professional advisers and authorities where the law requires it or where we need advice, for example accountants and lawyers.

We require service providers handling personal information for us to protect it and to use it only for the purposes we give them.

6. Transfers outside mainland China

Your information is processed in Hong Kong by Tasweek Limited. To run your trip it is also sent to Suppliers in Morocco. Our website is hosted on servers in Singapore. These countries and regions may have data-protection rules different from those in mainland China. We send only the information needed for each purpose, ask recipients to protect it, and obtain your separate consent before the transfer where the law requires it. You can ask us for details of the recipients.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technology to make the site work and, where we use analytics tools, to understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may then work less well.

8. How long we keep information

We keep trip, booking and payment records for 7 years after your trip ends, for accounting and legal reasons. Passport and ID details are deleted 60 days after the trip. Messages and enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted after 12 months. Photos that we keep with your consent are kept until you withdraw it. After these periods we delete or anonymise the information, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls, strong passwords with multi-factor authentication, and encrypted connections. No transmission over the internet is completely secure. If a security incident affects your information in a way that could harm you, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access and obtain a copy of your personal information, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to restrict or object to our use of it, to withdraw your consent, and to ask us to explain how we process it. To use these rights, contact us on WeChat or at ask@ibnbattuta.cn. We may need to confirm your identity first. We reply within 15 working days. We do not charge for ordinary requests. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the competent data-protection authority.

11. Children

Our website and services are not intended for children under 14. We do not knowingly collect their information without the consent of a parent or guardian. If a child travels with you, please provide their information as their parent or guardian, and tell us if you want it deleted.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The updated version appears on this page with its date. We will tell you in a clear way if a change materially affects how we use your information, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
