Marrakech
Assoufid Golf Club
Desert fairways, with the Atlas on the horizon.
The story
Assoufid was designed by Niall Cameron, a Scottish former European Tour player who had been head professional at Turnberry and Royal St George’s. It opened in 2014, about 20 minutes from the Marrakech medina.
Cameron let the desert shape the course, and it was designed to use little water. Date palms, cacti, olive trees and dry riverbeds frame the holes, and in winter the snow-capped Atlas stands on the horizon.
It is one of Morocco’s most acclaimed courses.
Signature holes
A par 3 played across a dry riverbed.
