Marrakech
Amelkis Golf Club
Palms, lakes and the Atlas, at the edge of Marrakech.
The story
Amelkis opened in 1995, designed by Cabell Robinson, the long-time associate of Robert Trent Jones. It is an open parkland course with wide fairways, lakes and palms, and the Atlas mountains on the horizon.
In 2000 it hosted the Moroccan Open on the European Tour. Jamie Spence won by four strokes, at 22 under par.
Today it has 27 holes, played as three nines, and remains one of the classic Marrakech courses.
